Nestled in the picturesque Ruiterbos valley at the foothills of the Outeniqua Mountains, just off the R328 from Mosselbay to Oudtshoorn, Balentore is only 20 minutes’ drive from Hartenbos and 35 minutes’ drive from Oudtshoorn, with George airport a mere 45 minutes’ drive away.
Balintore embodies simplicity and tranquillity- from the beauty of the expansive starlit skies at night, and the breathtaking mountains, to the awe-inspiring sunrise accompanied by the crowing of the rooster- this recently renovated guesthouse with its unique blend of modern design and Klein Karoo farm-style provides a welcome reprieve from city life.
The well known Mosselbay Mountain Bike Race, passes through our Ruiterbos Valley. Our valued guests are also welcome to pick and enjoy the fresh and crisp vegetables from the organic veggie garden, cultivated with tender love and care. Guests may collect fresh free-range eggs from the coop each morning, perfectly timed for breakfast. Balintore chickens are like pets, lovely and friendly, always happy to see guests. The rooster will give his farm fresh special morning greeting too, just to make sure our guests feel welcome and loved.
The luxury 3-bedroom guesthouse accommodates up to 6 guests, with a queen-size bed in the master bedroom and an ensuite bathroom with a walk-in shower. The second bedroom offers a double bed and a basin for convenience, and the spacious third bedroom is furnished with two single beds. All rooms offer high quality, comfortable beds with the finest white cotton percale linens and duck feather & down duvets. Each room is also equipped with a hairdryer and USB ports.
The family bathroom has a walk-in shower and a modern, sizable bathtub with an endless supply of hot water.
The main farmhouse also boasts a full-length stoep (covered veranda) equipped with a braai (barbecue), a dining table, and a lounge area. Double doors connect the open-plan living area to the stoep and the equally expansive pergola patio to allow for a spacious indoor-outdoor living experience, while a wood-burning fireplace, with a complimentary supply of wood, provides warmth and ambiance. The kitchen is a culinary enthusiast’s dream, fully equipped with modern appliances and state of the art cookware. The exquisite 8-seater art deco dining table promises a memorable dining experience. Additionally, the scullery with a dishwasher, tumble dryer, and washing machine helps keep things tidy and caters for all your laundry needs. A water purification system provides pure drinking water for our valued guests. Backup power is provided during load-shedding and Wifi is readily available to our guests. Covered parking for two vehicles is provided, additional vehicles can be accommodated without covered parking.
The outdoor bathroom is a unique addition to this guesthouse, offering a refreshing open-air wood-fired bath and shower. Guests are welcome to pick fresh vegetables from the organic vegetable garden, and collect fresh free-range eggs from the coop. Other activities include catch and release fishing in the farm dam stocked with bass, working out in our on-site mini gym, enjoying a 5km roundabout route for runners, or for mountain bikers, cycling the popular Haelkraal Road.
Balintore also offers a separate cottage for two guests. It comprises a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge area.
